Off-the-shelf community platforms treat a community as a discussion board with a paywall. They do not integrate with the systems that actually serve members — the data platform, the CRM, the education layer, the JV portal — so every meaningful workflow ends in a link out to somewhere else.

Building it internally meant replacing a licensed third-party platform with one Niche controls, extends, and integrates on its own schedule.
